Short Term Forecast: A cold front is moving through Southeast Louisiana this morning. We have scattered showers and a few thunderstorms over the area. The rain should come to an end by late morning. Then we will be left with mostly cloudy skies. Temperatures are in the 50s.
The cold front will be to the east of Baton Rouge this afternoon and it will take all the rain with it. Then we will have partly to mostly cloudy skies. The temperature forecast for today is pretty complicated. High temperatures were reached early this morning, and fell once the front moved through. However, we could see them rise a little when the sun peaks out this afternoon, so look for them to climb back into the lower 60s.
It will become mostly clear and MUCH COLDER tonight. Low temperatures will fall down to the upper 30s. You better plan to bundle up!
Week Ahead: An area of high pressure will build in behind the front on Tuesday and stay over the Southeast U.S. all week. We will be sunny and cool on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the lower 60s. Low temperatures will be quite cold as they stay in the upper 30s.
A disturbance will move through on Thursday, but it will not have any moisture to work with over Louisiana. Therefore, we will have some clouds increasing over Baton Rouge making it mostly cloudy. It will stay cool with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the mid 40s.
Mostly sunny skies will return on Friday as the disturbance moves to the east of Louisiana. It will be a little warmer with highs in the upper 60s. Friday Night will be mostly clear and chilly with lows in the mid 40s.
Weekend Outlook: An area of low pressure will move over the Deep South this weekend. It will not have much moisture to work with, so we will stay dry with clouds building over Baton Rouge. Therefore, Saturday will be partly cloudy and a tad warmer with highs around 70. Saturday Night will be partly cloudy and still chilly with lows in the upper 40s.
Sunday will have partly to mostly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 60s. Sunday Night will be partly cloudy and chilly with lows in the upper 40s.
